Artistic Director
Cimarron Opera is looking for a new Artistic Director who is passionate about sharing art and opera with the Oklahoma Community. The Artistic Director is one of Cimarron’s executive positions, alongside Financial Manager. This position helps shape Cimarron’s programming and directs logistics for programs. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Handle Program Logistics: The Artistic Director works closely with the Music Director to plan the year’s programming and determine the logistical needs of each program. Logistics for programming includes: hiring program staff, licensing music, booking and liaising with venues, booking additional vendors (i.e. photographer, videographer, equipment rental, etc.).
Coordinate Company Auditions: Artistic Director will coordinate auditions for all programming. This includes announcing and publicizing auditions, organizing the sign up method, booking an audition location and any other logistical tasks.
Develop New Artistic Partnerships: Through community connections the Artistic Director, in tandem with the Music Director, will seek out new organizations to collaborate with for programming, fundraising, and outreach.
Yearly and Programming Budgets: In tandem with the Financial Manager develop the yearly budget and budget for each program.
Grant Writing: The Artistic Director will write the non financial sections of grants for operational and program grants. In addition the Financial Manager and Artistic Director will seek out new grant opportunities for the organization.
Attend Grant Meetings: The Artistic Director will attend monthly Norman Arts Council meetings, quarterly Allied Arts meetings and any additional required grant meetings.
Social Media and Marketing: Artistic Director will manage the company's social media accounts and other marketing efforts. This includes writing press releases, reaching out to local media outlets, distributing posters, and outreaching to particularly interested groups.
Manage Outreach Opportunities: The Artistic Director will work with the Music Director to develop outreach programming. The Artistic Director will outreach to schools, libraries, and other organizations to schedule outreach events and ensure that performers are available for shows.
Maintain storage units: Cimarron Opera has a costume storage and set storage. The Artistic Director will make sure that units and the company assets stored within are in good condition and organized to best serve the needs of Cimarron’s programming.
In addition, the Artistic Director will work in conjunction with the Financial Manager on some activities, including but not limited to:
Fundraising
Representing Cimarron at events, including presentations to donor organizations
Arranging and presenting at regular Board meetings
Compensation
$21,000 a year
