About the Pirates of Penzance

Frederic has been an apprentice to a band of pirates, led by the formidable Pirate King, since he was a child. At 21 he is ready to leave his life of piracy behind and embark on a courtship with his new love Mabel. The problem? Frederic was born in Leap Year on February 29th and is apprenticed to the pirates till his 21st birthday not his 21st year. Will Frederic fulfill his duty to the pirates and help them defeat their new nemesis, the Major General and father of his love Mabel? Or abandon his duty for love? Join Cimarron this June to find out!

The Pirates of Penzance was Gilbert & Sullivan’s fifth collaboration and their only work to premiere in the United States. The Pirates of Penzance premiered in New York City at the Fifth Avenue Theatre on December 31, 1879. Since its premiere it has been performed across the globe, made into a film and returned to Broadway many times. Pirates will be going back on Broadway in April 2025 at the Roundabout Theatre.
