Summer Opera Theatre Camp Auditions
This year Cimarron Opera Camp will present The Gondoliers by Gilbert and Sullivan.
Opera Camp is open to youth 8-18 of all skill levels. Cimarron Opera Camp is known as one of the best intensive youth arts experiences in the state of Oklahoma. The 3 week camp provides vocal instruction, dance and acting basics, audition preparation, plus a lot of friendship, teamwork and fun! The camp then concludes with fully staged performances of an operetta for family and friends to enjoy.

Camp will take place at a St. John’s Episcopal Church Norman
Performances:
June 21st and 22nd
2:00 pm and 7:00 pm
Performances will take place at the Nancy O’Brian Performing Arts Center
All Campers, Staff and Crew for Cimarron’s camp must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 and are highly encouraged to get an updated booster dose. Additional covid safety measures will be announced as we approach the camp to ensure the safety of all participating.
Auditions:
Saturday April 13th 3:00pm- 5:00pm at the Depot: 200 S Jones Ave

For the audition, prepare one piece in English. Campers may be asked to read part of a scene during their audition. If campers do not have a piece prepared they are welcome to sing any song they know such as Happy Birthday, a nursery rhyme, or a hymn. Auditions are for our staff to hear where each camper is skill wise. Roles are not cast until the first week of camp.

Though we strongly encourage campers to sing an audition for our staff, it is not required to enroll in camp.
Camp tuition is $500 for one camper. For each additional camper tuition is $400. Both partial and full need-based scholarships are available.

Summer Operetta Auditions
This year Cimarron Opera will be presenting The Gondoliers by Gilbert and Sullivan.
The Summer Operetta is for adults 18+. The Summer Operetta is an excellent opportunity for emerging artists to hone their craft under the guidance of our fantastic artistic team and for community members to enjoy working in live theater. We strive to curate a welcoming and fun environment for everyone involved.

Occasional Saturday rehearsals may be scheduled.
All rehearsals will take place at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
We will make every effort to only call you when you are needed for rehearsals. We want to be respectful of your time.
Some coachings will take place prior to the above rehearsal period and will be scheduled at the convenience of the performer and music director.

For the audition, prepare one song or aria in English, preferably in the style of Operetta. You may be asked to read sides during your audition.

If you are unavailable for our regular audition window, we can arrange an alternate time during the weekend of the 13th or a video audition. Please still fill out the audition form and you will be contacted by a staff member.
