Job Description:
The Financial Manager is one of Cimarron’s executive positions, alongside Arts Manager. This position does not require any background in opera or the arts. The Financial Manager ensures that Cimarron continues to fulfill its financial and legal obligations on a day-to-day basis. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Handling Insurance: The Financial Manager should ensure that premiums are paid on time and process any claims that are filed. The Financial Manager should also periodically obtain quotes from other insurers to ensure that Cimarron’s insurance rates are competitive.
Bookkeeping and Taxes: The Financial Manager maintains Cimarron’s books and serves as the organization’s principal liaison with its accountant. The Financial Manager ensures that financial statements are timely produced and taxes timely filed, working with the accountant as appropriate. Much of this process is automated, but the Financial Manager is responsible for the accuracy of the organization’s books and financial statements.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: The Financial Manager is tasked with responsible handling of Cimarron’s receipts, including grants, ticket sales, and donations. The Financial Manage also ensures that the organization’s bills are timely paid. Again, much of this process is automated, but the Financial Manager is tasked with ensuring that things run smoothly and timely addressing any issues that may arise.
Payroll: The Financial Manager issues payroll to Cimarron employees with the appropriate taxes withheld. Again, this process is largely automated, but the Financial Manager ensures that payroll is accurate. The Financial Manager is responsible for issuing the organization’s tax statements to employees, working with the accountant as appropriate.
Contracts: The Financial manager is primarily responsible for overseeing and processing performer contracts. This includes entering contract information into the books, requesting any necessary background checks, and issuing 1099s to the performers.
Events: The Financial Manager handles ticketing for events, including setting up the event with ticketing software (e.g., Eventbrite or Zeffy) and making tickets available for purchase. The Financial Manager is responsible for the box office and front of house at Cimarron performances. This includes staffing volunteers to sell tickets and seat guests, depositing all funds received, and handling any issues with guests that arise.
In addition, the Financial Manager will work in conjunction with the Arts Manager on some activities, including but not limited to:
Budgeting
Marketing and Social Media
Representing Cimarron at events, including presentations to donor organizations
Arranging and presenting at regular Board meetings
Grant Applications
Salary/Benefits:
Up to $25,000

Work Schedule:
Hours are variable depending on season/programming needs.
Hybrid work is possible and hours are somewhat flexible.
